Travel Grant

Event Organizers: Offer Travel Aid to Attendees Without Additional Effort!

What's Travel Grant?

In summer 2018, we organized Hack Chicago, the Midwest's largest high school hackathon to-date.

We're lucky. Since then, we've had the opportunity to experience dozens of fascinating student-run events like Hack Cincinnati, HackPenn and Windy City Hacks. But not everyone is that lucky, and not every high school hackathon can afford to provide travel aid.

We're here to help. Simply place a link in your FAQ section to our grant website, and you'll be able to provide attendees in need with an opportunity to join you from even across the country.

How do I join?

There are only 3 steps to making Travel Grant available for your students. Join the movement, and eliminate geographic constraints of high school hackathons!

Put a link to in the FAQ section on your website, informing your attendees about the program, so they don't get scared away from signing up! Simply direct prospective students to us, and we'll handle the rest. Here's an example from PixelHacks' website.

After our approved students attend your event, they will be asked to complete a reflection in the form of a blog post or a video. Reflections will be shared with you, and you may quote them as you like, so more students can know about Travel Grant and your event.

This is not required, but we'd greatly appreciate it if you can donate a portion of your event's leftover funds to us after the event! Travel Grant was made possible by the generous donations of past events, and as little as $200 could support an awesome weekend for a student!

Ask us anything.

Travel Grant is a charity project — it isn't an attempt to get focus on our organization itself (which runs a completely different program). We want to do something good for the hackathon community that made us who we are today. Please let us know if you have any questions, and we're always happy to help.
